Extracting high-quality audio from Blu-ray players can be problematic in that the HDMI signal format interleaves video and audio data into a single transmission medium. While a convenient means of transferring A/V data between components, the process of combining these signals invariably imparts a level of digital jitter to the audio data sometimes as high as seven nanoseconds. For the purpose of comparison, a good CD player's jitter specification is in the picosecond range, i.e., three orders of magnitude less. In practical terms, it is difficult to decode HDMI audio without employing extensive re-clocking circuits, thus inflating the cost of a good HDMI audio pre-processor.
The simplest, most cost-effective way of dealing with the analog audio issue is at its source. And this is what we have accomplished in the NuForce BDP-93NE and BDP-93NXE. By replacing the analog output circuit board with a proprietary design, the 93NE and 93NXE delivers the highest possible levels of the natural, beautiful sound that has long since established NuForce’s enviable reputation. We’ve every confidence you'll agree that the NuForce BDP-93 Xtreme Edition equals or exceeds the performance of the world’s best digital audio disc players.
- Technologically sophisticated with unique asynchronous clocking VCXO. Provides superior high-end sound: powerful bass, robust mids, extended high, very revealing and detail presentation, wide and precise sound stage.
(available May, 2011)
- All NuForce Blu-ray players are based on OPPO's players. These NuForce Edition players are sold by NuForce only.
- Note that all Blu-ray transports are noisier than the transport in a high-end CD player such as NuForce CDP-8.

Upgraded my Nuforce NE to the NXE board[thanks, Nuforce] and Jason especially]. Loved my NE but this NXE board is better in every way. Even on the first song there was a flow to the music presentation that reminded me of my ROxan Zerxes. This just begs you to play more and more discs. This is serioursly enjoyable, non-digital and relaxing. Those of you who have tried the NXE know where I'm coming from. Enough said. Just try it. Highest recommendation. cheers, lloyd

Entering my 6th decade of life, and having been an ardent lover of music for 98% of that time, I've expended way too much money and effort over the years trying to find the "just right" audio system. I'm a serious student of the piano, and I am exposed to live music almost every day. I know what "live" sounds like. Since the advent of the CD, I found that recorded music had a bothersome, sterile aspect. In piano music, there was none of the percussiveness of hammers on strings, or the subtle thump of dampers engaging and disengaging. No overtones. No sonority. No life.
After reading reviews of the NuForce / Oppo BDP-93 NXE, I decided I'd give it a shot. When I initially installed the unit, out of habit, I connected it to my system via the digital output. I was pleased. A few days later, it dawned on me that I should reconnect the system using the NuForce analog outputs. Whoa, Baby! Suddenly, it was all there: all the nuance and subtlety I knew should be there! My CD collection has found new value for me. I'm listening to EVERYTHING now, like I've seldom heard recordings before.
I wholeheartedly recommend this unit. For the price (several times over), you can't match it. CAN'T!

The hard line - the NXE is probably the best upgrade I have ever put my hard earned money to!
I was a little hesitant and debated over this upgrade for months as $900 is a bitter pill to swallow for what looks to be a simplistic, diminutive board to the naked eye.
Boy am I glad I did this - the claim of the sonics matching £20 000 CD Players is not far off!!! ...my BDP-93 sounds so real, like it is living and breathing now....vocals have a raspy vinyl-like edge to them and there is foreground and background detail that my Wife and I never noticed before. SACD sounds INCREDIBLE - I am typically a 2-channel man, but Dires Straits SACD is so envolving and interesting to listen to, I now choose the multi-channel recording over the Stereo that I used to prefer!?!?! ;-)
All-in-all, have no fear, this NXE upgrade is worth every penny and you will not be disappointed...although I might say, you need a revealing pre-amp to get the most out of this as Receivers steal too much away (loss of fine detail) from the Source! A Parasound P7 would mate excellently with the OPPO BDP-93 NXE I suspect....or maybe NuForce will make us a nice Multichannel pure analogue pre-amp - if you do (are you listening NuForce), I may be your first customer :-)))
