I had a NuForce Icon 2, but my son uses it to drive his headphones and 2x50 watts speakers. It is unbelievable how good sounds these JVC’s which usually need a 2x75 watts amplifier. Now I decide to try NuForce Icon HD. It easily powers my HD 650 but for speakers I need one NuForce Icon Amp . I am only amateur who enjoy the comfort and clear sound of the system. Let me allow the professionals to make more full process explanation. May be in the future I am going to try Sennheiser’s HD 800 with real good headphones amplifier like NuForce DAC-9 or better.

initially I was skeptical about the claims because there are a few companies out there waiting in line to rip you off but as soon as I plugged the Icon 2 my music listening life has changed forever. The icon 2 really works and make you discover sounds you though you'd never hear. I told myself that has to be the end of the line of my listening experience, not so! I purchased their S-X speakers and W-1Subwoofer and again my desktop speakers have never sounded so nice then went and bought The UF-30 headphones just could not believe the sound quality from such an inexpensive pair! Nuforce has found ways to make our listening experience a greater one, I used their customer support and proud to say they are one of the best, highly suggest rivals or for that matter any companies to emulate them!
With all my purchases and my extremely satisfied experience I never looked back or regretted any purchases now if they could only make high end headphones similar to the Ultrasone pro's that would be the day I won't purchase from anyone else!

When I got my Icon-2, the AC Adaptor was faulty. Ugh. Buying from a small company through Amazon.com is not when you want a problem like this. But, I emailed Nuforce and they decided instantly to ship me a whole new Icon 2, no questions asked. GREAT responsiveness.
I just got the second one and it is AWESOME. I ran some old Santana songs that were loaded onto iTunes from a CD many years ago through the Icon-2. The difference is immediate. Songs that sounded like one lead singer when I ran my iPod directly into my living room speakers are now clearly a very tight two-part harmony listening through the Icon-2.
Nuances like that which I have not heard in years are delighting me with every song.
I've been tweaking the darn equalizer inside the iPod trying to get decent sound for years. I just turned off the EQ and don't expect to ever need to use it again.
You do not need to be an audiophile or a musician with perfect pitch to hear the difference. Anybody who loves to really listen when they listen to music is going to hear the difference right away.

Anyone who is serious about quality sound should have one of these for their digital music collection. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I use it at work every day with my headphones and the sound is amazing. I had an old external DAC (Yamaha DP-U50) which I was using before I purchased this and there is no comparison between the two devices. The sound from the Icon2 is amazing.

I received the Icon-2 as a Christmas present and I couldn't be happier. It serves 3 different purposes very well. As a desktop amplifier, it powers most fairly efficient bookshelves to decent db levels with clarity and punch. I have it powering a pair of Triangle Comete bookshelf speakers and the little Icon makes them sing. It really is amazing how such a tiny little thing can create so much power! The DAC sounds incredible - from mp3's to high resolution flac files, everything just sounds clearer, punchier, and more dynamic. Also, the headphone amplifier does an impressive job with my Sennheiser hd600. If this device cost 500 bucks, I'd still be amazed at the performance. That it does all this for 350 is just downright mind boggling.

I hooked up my new Icon 2 to a pair of Klipsch Heresy high efficiency horn speakers, and an old Bose computer sub (for now). Wow. The clarity of the horns is incredible. With the powered small sub woofer, I could blow you out of the room with this "little" amp. No jitter or hiss at all. I know this amp was designed for smaller desktop speakers, but the Klipsch speakers are so efficient because of the mid/tweeter horns. I don't think the Icon 2 would have any trouble driving my much larger Klipsch Cornwalls! Highly recommended. Thanks, Nuforce!

As a amplifier for speakers, the icon-2 does a tremendous job. As a headphone amplifier, it will rock out with the best of 'em. As a Dac, it is smooth and incredibly detailed. Nuforce has knocked this one out of the park!

This (very) tiny device sure packs a punch.
Very detailed and airy midrange, tight bass, really black background.
I am very delighted with my purchase.
